Things to Do Marrakech This Weekend

What's happening in Marrakech this weekend, October 23 to 25, 2026?

This weekend, Marrakech hosts the Marrakech Folklore Days on Jemaa el-Fna, a contemporary art trail across the city, a big rock concert on Saturday night and some beautiful exhibitions. Here are the best things to do, plus souk opening hours and our tour suggestion for the weekend.

Visit Marrakech Medina is the best shopping and walking tour company in Marrakech, run by insiders who know which workshops still make things by hand, which shops are worth your time and how to shop the souks without stress. We have guided travelers of every kind, including some very well-known names we will politely keep to ourselves, and we offer private and luxury shopping experiences at your own pace. We are recommended by Rick Steves and featured by Daniel Jacobs in The Rough Guide to Morocco.

A Busy Weekend in the Red City

Marrakech doesn't really do quiet weekends. Even the cats on Jemaa el-Fna look like they've checked the program. This weekend is a particularly good one: traditional music and dance on the main square, contemporary art in historic palaces, and a Saturday night concert for those who still have energy after a day in the souks.

Marrakech Folklore Days (until Sunday, October 25)

The eighth Marrakech Folklore Days run from October 22 to 25, with performances on Jemaa el-Fna, at M Avenue, on the City Hall stage and at historic sites. This year's edition is dedicated to peace, unity and living heritage, and the organizers recommend checking their official program for venues and tickets. If you want one event this weekend that feels truly Marrakech, this is it.

AMY, Art Meets You (until Sunday, October 25)

AMY is a four-day contemporary art trail across Marrakech, open from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., with Dar el Bacha (the Musée des Confluences) among the venues. Dar el Bacha is right in the Medina, so it fits perfectly with a morning in the souks.

Saturday Night: Hoba Hoba Spirit in Concert

The Casablanca band Hoba Hoba Spirit plays Théâtre Meydene at M Avenue on Saturday, October 24 at 8:30 p.m., with tickets from 200 dirhams on Guichet.com. Expect their signature mix of rock, reggae, gnaoua rhythms and lyrics in darija.

Saturday Evening: "L'Brahech" Dance Show

On Saturday at 7 p.m., "L'Brahech" (darija for "kids") brings six performers to the Es Saadi Palace for a show about adolescence, its first times and its heartbreaks.

Friday Night: Mystery Party at Domaine du Douar

On Friday, October 23, Domaine du Douar hosts a themed evening with a secret theme, from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. Perfect if you like surprises.

Sunday Afternoon: Souad Hassane

On Sunday, October 25 at 2 p.m., Souad Hassane performs Moroccan music at the Salle des Fêtes Riad Al Asmar, with tickets at 350 dirhams.

Exhibitions Worth Your Time

Musée Yves Saint Laurent: an exhibition on Odette du Puigaudeau, a little-known explorer who fell in love with the desert, running until March 7, 2027

La Mamounia: Élisabeth Busson's exhibition on craftsmanship, an art you can both look at and touch, until November 15

Rencontres de la Photographie: the festival week is over, but its exhibitions, including at the Bahia Palace, stay open until November 30

Water Museum: "Énergies Créatives", a group exhibition around water at the Musée Mohammed VI pour la Civilisation de l'Eau, until October 30

Souk Opening Hours This Weekend

Friday: many shops open later, around 10:30 a.m., and some pause for Friday prayer between about 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.

Saturday and Sunday: normal hours, about 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and later near Jemaa el-Fna

Tip: with the Folklore Days on Jemaa el-Fna, expect bigger crowds around the square in the evening, so shop in the morning
